Academic writing: Research review course is
designed to develop students’ academic writing theoretically and practically.
It supplies the students with the theoretical skill of good exposition texts
that incorporate information reports and explanations as evidence in the area
of ELT. Additionally, it uses a range of texts including research papers,
conference proposals, proceedings, conference posters, book chapters, and
technical reports. This course invites the students with some practical skills
that include summarizing, paraphrasing, quoting, referencing, reviewing and
synthesizing to produce a research review text and to avoid plagiarism. It also
provides students with the ability to do self-assessments and peer assessment
towards the students’ writing.
