This course aims to equip students with basic English language competencies,
especially English grammar, which is the basis for developing language skills
(listening, speaking, reading and writing). Learning materials include knowledge
about types of words and the arrangement of English phrases, clauses and
sentences and their application in expressing meaning in English. Material is
presented through lectures, discussions, in-class assignments, and out-of-class
assignments. Assessment is carried out on an ongoing basis based on class
participation, individual assignments, quizzes, and end-of-semester exams.
